Rte. 114, Cumberland
Join us for a free Family Nature Play Date (FNPD) at Diamond Hill Park in Cumberland. We’ll be exploring this wonderful park and talking about birds and raptors. We’ll take a short walk up the hill to a scenic view! Meet in the parking lot for tons of family fun at 1:00pm.
And you can earn 5,000 points through the Zoo’s Nature Swap. Participants in the program bring in natural “found” items to collect points for swapping with items in their collection.
To earn 5,000 Nature Swap Quest Points you must:
- Attend the FNPDs at Diamond Hill Park on Sunday, November 29, at 1:00pm.
- Bring some sort of photographic/journal book evidence that you attended the FNPD to the Nature Swap in the RWPZoo’s Big Backyard children’s space. (Nature Swap hours are Friday–Monday, 10:00am–2:00pm daily).
Nature Play Grant
For the second year in a row, the Roger Williams Park Zoo was one of the recipients of a Nature Play grant, which was developed by the Children & Nature Network (C&NN) and the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) through a special gift from the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund. This grant allows us to offer free nature based play experiences in various parks, playgrounds, preserves, and other properties that are off zoo grounds–but easy to get to! Each FNPD includes a series of structured and unstructured activities focused on a particular wildlife theme and you’ll have tons of family fun–outside–for an hour or so. Each FNPD is also a Nature Swap “Quest” and allows participants to earn 5,000 bonus points in their accounts. Learn more about the Zoo’s Nature Swap here.
