11:00am
corner of Hazard & Ocean Heights Roads, Newport
Join us as we explore Newport’s only nature preserve and a former quarry. This 13 acre property is very diverse for its size. There are gorgeous views, a vernal pond, diverse wildlife and plant species, and a huge meadow just right for resting or a picnic.
We will meet at the entrance on Hazard Road, just west of Ocean Heights Road at 11:00. We’ll take a short hike of about 1.5 miles and end at the Quarry Meadow. Bring a lunch to picnic or snacks to enjoy along the way.
