1:00-3:00pm
50 Bend Road, Charlestown
Join us on Sunday, September 27, as we explore the northern section of the Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge and celebrate the launch of The Rhode Island Family Hiking Guide and Journal!
Written by RI Families in Nature founder and director, Jeanine Silversmith (that’s me!), The Rhode Island Family Hiking Guide and Journal has everything you need to help you prepare for and enjoy exploring the great outdoors with children of all ages and abilities. There are 42 family-friendly hikes throughout Rhode Island and each hike description includes a detailed map as well as journal pages for your family to use to reflect upon and document your experiences.
Drop by anytime from 1:00 to 3:00pm in the Kettle Pond Visitor Center for an opportunity to purchase an autographed copy and meet Jeanine and other folks that were instrumental in creating the guide. We’ll also have a “make your own trail mix” bar and be giving away some special prizes!
And of course there will be some hiking! While you’re here, explore the flat and easy trails of the Ninigret NWR at your own pace. And don’t forget to check out the interactive exhibits, displays, and activities in the Visitor Center.
