Breakheart Pond Loop
off Frosty Hollow Road, Exeter

With over 14,000 acres, Arcadia Management Area is Rhode Island’s largest recreational area, and offers many opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, boating, fishing, and horseback riding. This book includes five of the many, many trails in Arcadia. The first is the loop around Breakheart Pond, an easy trail to follow with small waterfalls and many wonderful views of the 44-acre pond, especially in the winter and early spring when there aren’t a lot of leaves on the trees. Swimming is not allowed in Breakheart Pond, but fishing and boating are.

Length: 1.5 miles; 2.0 miles or more if you extend along intersecting trails
Difficulty: easy for kids
Dogs: are welcome, so long as they are leashed and you clean up after them
Note: fluorescent orange requirements apply for all users during the hunting season (learn more)
