Cliff Walk
Memorial Blvd west of Easton’s (First) Beach, Newport

The Cliff Walk path runs more than 3 miles along Newport’s southeastern edge, offering gorgeous views of the ocean as well as Salve Regina University and many of the “City by the Sea” mansions. Natural and architectural beauty are pretty much everywhere you turn. In fact, the Cliff Walk is a National Recreation Trail that runs through a National Historic District. The crowds and lack of shade during the summer can hamper your enjoyment of this beautiful spot, so go in the off-season if you can.

Length: 1.2 miles; 2.5 miles if you extend to Ruggles Avenue; 7.0 miles if you follow the entire path out and back
Difficulty: easy for kids (unless you extend it to 7.0 miles!)
Stroller- and Wheelchair-accessible: yes, but only north of Ruggles Avenue
Dogs: are welcome, so long as they are leashed and you clean up after them
Accessible by Public Transportation: within 0.7 mile
