Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge (northern section)

The trails in the northern section of the Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge are flat and easy to navigate through beautiful pine and oak trees, blueberry shrubs, and ferns. You can take in beautiful ocean views from an observational platform, look for critters in a small vernal pond, and explore interactive exhibits, displays, and activities at the Kettle Pond Visitor Center. The center is open daily from 10am-4pm (although sometimes it is closed in the winter), and it’s free!
Length: 0.5 mile; 1.2 miles if you extend on the Watchaug Pond Trail
Difficulty: very easy for children
Dogs: pets are not allowed on national wildlife refuges, except at Kettle Pond Visitor Center – please keep your dogs leashed at all times and clean up after them
